Trauma
Fractures and acute injuries in adults and children, built on the structured trauma training of the German hospital system. Each page covers diagnosis, surgical fixation and recovery.

Proximal Humerus Fractures
Fractures of the upper end of the humerus near the shoulder joint, most often in elderly patients after a fall onto an outstretched hand. Treatment ranges from sling immobilisation to internal fixation or reverse shoulder replacement, depending on the fracture pattern and bone quality.

Distal Humerus Fractures
Fractures of the lower end of the humerus at the elbow joint, including supracondylar, transcondylar and intra-articular bicondylar (T/Y) patterns. The elbow tolerates malalignment and prolonged immobilisation poorly, so most displaced fractures are treated surgically with anatomical reduction and stable dual-plate fixation that allows early motion.

Hip Fractures
Fractures of the proximal femur, most often in elderly patients after a fall, less commonly from high-energy trauma in younger adults. Urgent surgery within 24–48 hours dramatically improves outcomes.

Knee Fractures
Fractures of the tibial plateau, distal femur or patella, frequently the result of high-energy trauma. The German trauma system’s structured approach to fixation, including 360° access for complex cases, gives the best chance of restoring an anatomically reduced, stable joint.

Distal Radius Fractures
The most common fracture in adults, typically from a fall onto an outstretched hand. Modern volar locking plate fixation has transformed outcomes, allowing early mobilisation and reliable return of wrist function.

Paediatric Fractures
Children’s bones are different from adults'. They heal faster, remodel after some malalignments, but also include the growth plate (physis), a special structure whose injury can disturb growth. Treatment respects these unique features.
